We are over half way through the 2018 Club Championship, having recently completed the track champs. Results for completed events, and the current standings, are available below.
The 2018 cyclocross championship took place back in January at Dalton Barracks, Abingdon. The conditions were epic; sub-zero temperatures, with overnight snow turning into slush for the U10 & U12 races, and freezing sleet for the youth race. The conditions were universally agreed as the toughest all season, and possibly the worst in memory. Or ‘proper cyclocross conditions’ as some would say!
Despite the weather we had fantastic racing and lots of determination, even if riders were unable to finish due to mechanicals or the cold. Well done all of you!
Due to the conditions we did have some DNFs, and those riders have been positioned according to how much of the race they completed (from the transponder data).

On 16th June, the club ran the traditional track championships comprising a pursuit, sprint and bunch race. With honours and overall championship points available for each event, every race was hotly contested.
There were fantastic performances across the board, with PBs in the pursuit for many, and intelligent, tactical riding in both the sprints and the bunch races.

The track championships are particularly dependent on helpers to be able to run. From timers, judges, and the transponder system, to holders, sign-on and gear check (and many more roles), we could not run the event without volunteers. Thank you.

With 4 out of 7 events completed, the overall standings are starting to take shape. While some categories are already looking clear cut, others look like they will go down to the final event(s) in the Autumn.
Remember, if you were in the top 3 for any of the events you will receive your medal/trophy at the end of year club awards presentation.
