Dear Members
With effect from Saturday 11 February 2017 the timings of the sessions at Palmer Park on Saturday mornings will be as follows:
09.00 – 10.30 – Freewheel
10.30 – 11.10 – C session fixed wheel
11.10 – 12.00 – B session fixed wheel
12.00 – 13.00 – A session fixed wheel
13.00 – 14.30 – A* session fixed wheel (or alternative session when A* is not running, e.g. intro to fixed)
Freewheel is open to all members.
‘A’ group riders can if they wish join the B session as a warm-up activity. We are currently looking at better ways for riders to sign up for sessions. We will use a sign-up for the B session to ensure we are not oversubscribed. If the B session is full then A riders will be expected to use their rollers to warm-up on.
‘A+’ riders can if they wish join the A session as a warm-up activity. We will use a sign up for the A session to ensure we are not oversubscribed.
If they don’t sign-up for the preceding session then both A and A+ riders should arrive 40mins before their main session to allow time for a roller warm-up
The reasons behind this change were briefly discussed at the recent AGM and are as follows:
– Improved ‘flow’ of the sessions – making it easier for riders to transition up through the sessions as they progress with their riding, and for coaches to monitor that progression.
– Improved availability of track (fixed wheel) coaches – making it more easier to have sufficient coaches with the appropriate qualifications to run each of the sessions on more weeks of the year.
– Reduced risk of losing sessions due to water/ice/leaves on the track as we won’t be starting the day with a fast session on fixed wheel bikes.
We realise that these changes won’t suit every family, but they have the full support of the coaching team as being in the best interests of the riders and the club and have been approved by the Committee.
We will be holding an open meeting at the club at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 11 February to discuss this and other matters and give everybody an opportunity to ask questions and understand more about the coaching sessions and the club.
Kind regards
Fiona
