The 2016 Skills Championship will be taking place on Saturday 17 September at Palmer Park, and online entry is now open. The skills championship is open to all members (2nd claim members can take part but their result won’t count towards the club championship), with trophies/medals for all age categories and genders presented at the end of year awards. Plus points count towards the overall club championship.
Please note: the 17 September is our contingency date in case the weather forces the postponement of the club track championships. In the event of the track champs being moved to the 17 September, the skills champs will happen at a later date (to be confirmed if required).
The skills championship provides a chance for you to test your bike handling skills, and covers a wide-range of different tests. As last year the format will focus on your all-round skills ability. Rather than a single skills course, we will have a set of different skills ‘zones’ around the red track. Each one will feature a different bike skill and you will gain points depending on how well you get on. Every rider will take part in each skill zone, and also complete a short timed skill, to be used in the event of a tie-break. Don’t worry, the PPV skills you all love (or hate) will be there; bottle pick up, slalom, track stand etc.
All riders must use a freewheel bike (no fixed wheel allowed), and it must be the bike you usually use for PPV freewheel sessions.
The start time will be confirmed nearer the day but we anticipate it being around 9.30am — we have a lot of you to get through in the morning. We hope to be running activities alongside the skills while you are waiting to take your turn, though this is dependent on availability of coaches. Normal sessions will not run.
Please sign-up using the online form below. There are no entries on the day and sign-up will shut at midnight Saturday 10 September.
