Due the recent regulations changes put in place by British Cycling, disc brakes are now allowed for competition and training. The restriction noted below no longer applies.
With the rise in popularity of disc brakes on road bikes, the club would like to clarify their use at BC circuit races and club sessions.
Disc brakes are allowed in mountain bike and cyclocross races and PPV coaching sessions in those disciplines (e.g. on Thursday nights)Disc brakes are not allowed in British Cycling circuit racesDisc brakes are not allowed in PPV freewheel coaching sessions, club race days or club championships (except for MTB and CX)
Please be aware if you turn up with a disc brake equipped bike at a BC circuit race, or at a PPV freewheel session, you will not be allowed to ride. This is for safety reasons, especially in bunch scenarios where the braking difference between disc brakes and callipers is magnified.
