Hi All,
Afan Forest Park in South Wales is home to over 130km of some of the best mountain bike trails in the UK. It’s located in South Wales a few minutes from the M4 near Swansea.
We are planning a trip there on the weekend of the 12/13th March next year. This will be a great opportunity to have a social weekend with other PPV members while also improving your skills and fitness in a fantastic centre and having fun. See here for more details of the forest park.
We will be staying at Bryn Bettws Lodge which is located in the park right on one of the trails and next to a bike park skills area. This has accommodation in ensuite Bunk rooms and serves breakfast and evening meals. The cost is £30 per person/night bed and breakfast or £44.50 full board, which includes a 2 course evening meal and packed lunch. A bar is also available for parents. See here for more details.
The plan would be to travel up Friday night or early Saturday morning and do one of the longer trails on the Saturday. This would probably be in two ability/inclination based groups. We would then stay Saturday night and do a shorter trail on the Sunday or just have fun in the bike park next door.
The riding there is more technically and physically demanding than local MTB trails but if you can ride confidently round the red trail at Swinley Forest it won’t be a much greater challenge, though be prepared for much bigger hills. There are also optional black routes on the trails for the more experienced.
This is intended to be parent/guardian accompanied weekend though there will obviously be coaches on the rides.
If you are interested please fill in the form here indicating how many family members would like to come and whether you would like to stay Friday and Saturday or just Saturday. This is an expression of interest, but as long as there are enough wanting to go I’ll get the lodge to hold rooms and then get back to you for firm bookings.
